As the former editor of a local fitness and fashion magazine, Caroline O’ Halloran (second from left) dubbed Mojo, “Hands down, the most fun workout on the Mainline”. A fitness enthusiast, Caroline often lamented that while she was working hard and having fun, she wasn’t enjoying the same cardio intensity as other sopping wet Mojo friends. After a recent class, Caroline was a sweaty mess (a wonderful thing) and said she finally “cracked Mojo’s intensity code”. Her cardio movements have been high impact, but her low impact movements lacked strength and power for her fitness level, thus lowering her heart rate and diluting the benefits a full fledged interval workout. She says, “It’s the little tweaks that have taken me to another level, I lift my knees higher when I run in place or do a crunch, I take bigger steps when I travel, and I punch, push or kick a little harder. I’m also exploring new angles and challenging a wider variety of muscle groups.”
Intensity levels vary from person to person, it’s up to you to listen to your body and push yourself when you can or lighten-up when you think you’ve taken it too far. Even more importantly, you need to make sure you have fun doing it so that you can’t wait to do it again! Frequency and consistency are the most important elements in attaining overall fitness.
If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you…
