Work hard! In our 20’s, we could stop eating for a couple of days, hit the treadmill and be back in fighting shape by the weekend. After age 30, that regimen will only exacerbate the problem and possibly add pounds. We lose 3 to 8 percent of our muscle mass per decade, which is the main reason our metabolism slows down and our weight starts to climb.
