Why Having A “Third Place” Can Make Us Happier

By now, we are all aware of the health and fitness benefits we get from fitness classes, like Mojo. I’d like to introduce you to another energy that we enjoy that has been known to make our lives happier overall. It’s an energy called our “3rd place”:

For many of us, Mojo has become a 3rd place.
Our community is deliciously different in so many ways, but everyone who makes an effort to connect, by jamming it out with us, attending a spring party, or reading this newsletter has made a decided effort to connect, and I am honored and grateful you have.

It may be a “little exercise class”, but it’s a space in time we take to dance, to sweat, to laugh, to learn, to lend an ear..and to celebrate life together.

Marge Musumici, lost her sweet husband last year and was kind enough to share how Mojo’s community has been a lifeline to her.

“Everyone is so supportive. Mojo keeps me consistent and moving forward. I feel like I am cheating myself when I miss class.”

Baby steps…We are all cheering for you, Marge!

Jayne Funk is one of our 3 to 4 LIVEstreams a week friends. At age 70, and with one artificial knee, she has lost 15 lbs since Christmas. Bravo, GF! Though Jayne lives across the country, in rural Nebraska, she feels  a “3rd place” kinship with our community. In fact, this year is her second time driving two days to join us LIVE in Wayne, Pa.

“You don’t realize how much Mojo has done for me. The music and moves make sense to me. I am not a dancer, but Mojo makes me feel like one. I met so many new friends this week. Everyone is so nice, which makes me feel even more connected.”

Lara Luzi suffered debilitating disc issues last year, which led to back surgery. Thank goodness she is back and feeling much better (!) Lara shared that getting back to Mojo was a key motivator in her recovery.

“Everyone motivated me to keep going hard. Each time I could reach a little further or move a little quicker was such a happy moment. I thank you so much for your “little exercise class” because this is what got me through some very difficult times over the last 16 years.”

Ryan Ayres joined us less than a year ago. She is a Wawa supervisor with crazy hours.

“Because of Mojo, I no longer come home after work and sit in front of the TV. The people are so nice, and I feel like I’m doing more with my life”
We love having your energy with us, GF!

Now that I am a grandmother of two, time seems to be going at the speed of light.I am increasingly aware that these are the good ole’days.

From joining me virtually in my “Wayne’s World” basement, shaking it up in my backyard, and then to Wilson Park during the pandemic, what we have done to try and keep our little community alive and kicking is pretty extraordinary!

Our times together are a collection of “slow conversations” and simple memories, but when you gather them together, they are a beautiful tapestry of life. Yes, Mojo is a business, but in reality, it’s our third place.

For those of you who are tempted to let the craziness of life give you a “reason” to bow out of life, here’s a little mojo-spiration…

Don’t let the busyness of today overshadow the beauty of the present. Treasure these connections, savor these moments of shared vitality, because this incredible journey we’re all on together will be the “good ole’ days” we’ll fondly look back upon with a warm heart.
